Nominations
Carole Woodward
I met Carol at the gym and she was a large woman with this contagious positive happy spirit. Always with a smile on her face and with a joke or interesting story to tell. I was inspired to hear she had shed already about 30 or so kilo's, and was steaming ahead to lose another 10. The numbers are not 100% correct, but you get my drift on how much weight this lady had lost. She was in the gym twice a day Monday to Friday for a couple of hours each session to burn off those calories and meet her goal weight. No other person deserves this award more than Carol.

Yurike Yunita
I have been a Fitness First member for at least 8 years with no improvement to my physique at all. One day I rang my friend from a previous job cause I felt abit down. It was a friday night and I decided to call her and she told me she just finished a Zumba class with our friend Donna and she sounded so happy and excited. She spoke about this new gym that she goes to which is V Club. She encouraged me to go and she gave me a free pass. So I did visit and done a Zumba session with her which I enjoyed thoroughly. So I decided to do the leap after all these years with Fitness First and I joined the V Club about 2 weeks ago and I go religiously and I can recommend it to anybody. I actually look forward to go and I feel im losing weight already and feeling toned and also managed to get a few laughs together.
(nominated by Karen Borg)
Kuan Shieh
Kuan has never been to the gym or exercised for the 10 years I have known here. Over a year ago she signed up at the V Club and has been going there ever since, at least three times per week.
She has turned her life around in terms of exercise and is now benefiting from that gym high we all know about.
(nominated by Steve Wilson)
Lina Deng
Lina is such a vibrant and bubbly person..she's a delight to "work out" with..she inspires anyone to keep fit and have fun!
(nominated by Donna Gara)
Jane Mackney
I would like to nominate Jane as the Most Inspiring Member of V Club. Jane and I have been coming to the Gym together for nearly 1 year. We do the Cardio Circuit, Pilates and our own work out sessions. We both encourage and motivate each other to get to the gym every lunchtime and challenge ourselves as much as possible! It's also been great fun as well as hard work. Thanks to Jane being my "Gym Buddy" and my inspiration, I feel more fit than I have ever been in my life. I have lost 7 kilos and I have noticed how toned I am. I am comfortable and happy with my results and never felt better. Jane has totally inspired me and I don't want to stop!
(nominated by Belinda Glasson)
Belinda Glasson
I joined V Club upon the recommendation of a work colleague Belinda Glasson. I had previously been a member at Fitness First and although I went to the gym once or twice a week, it wasn't a huge part of my life (and the results showed). Belinda made it her mission to get me to the gym at lunchtimes. Despite my initial reluctance, she persisted (with daily reminders) and as a result, I now attend the gym at least 4 times a week and organise my day around my classes (rather than the other way around as it used to be). I've found exercise is addictive. If it hadn't been for her persistence V Club would not be the essential part of my life as it is today - and I've got the results to show it! I've just turned 40 and I can safely say, I've never been in better shape in my life! Thanks Bel! As the moto says "One Body, One Life!".

Tony Boyadjian
Lost more than 30kgs in less than 12 months.
Went from clothes size XXL to Medium.
Improved overall health and blood test results significantly.
No more gout pain and no need for pain relief medication.
Fitter, healthier and stronger than ever.
Full credit to PT Pascal Shaw for sculpting my body and making my 3 PT sessions each week enjoyable and rewarding!
Maria Ferro
Maria has been a member of V club for a while and has lost over 10kgs. She is disciplined and determined in her health and fitness regime, and has been a big motivator for me to strive for my own results. She goes to the gym atleast 4 times a week, pushing herself each time, regardless of how she is feeling or if she has personal training!! She inspires me to never give up on my goals and always see the positives, even if there is no weight loss in that week!!
(nominated by Alison Howarth)
A Note from Maria
This isn't a nomination per se but rather a message out to all those potential new members at V who are perhaps obese or very overweight. To them, as for most, the hardest step is always the first, so I thought I'd share mine...
A few years ago, I was asked to participate, as part of a work Managers' Conference/Team Building trip, in an overnight trek up Mt Kinabalu, the tallest mountain in SE Asia (4095 metres/13435 ft). I was well over 100 kgs and had never set foot in a gym, let alone atop a mountain!!! It scared me more than words can say but I saw it as an opportunity, a start, to finally get fit.
So I joined a gym and can still remember my first night; the biggest girl there, in daggy clothes (Nike only went to a size 14), not knowing how to operate any of the machines. Feeling like everyone was watching the new fat girl. But nonetheless, I was there. And I turned up the next night. And the night after that. And the night after that.
Fast forward a few years and I'm now 30kgs lighter, have run a 1/2 Marathon, train 8 hours/week and wear a size 14 instead of a 22...but one thing hasn't changed...I still turn up every night and love my V Club!!!!!
Along the way I've learnt that it doesn't matter what gear you're in, or what you look like, what people may think, etc, but rather, it's about being disciplined and consistent, and step 1 is actually going.
So goodluck on your journey and remember;
"What lies behind you, and what lies before you, are tiny matters compared to what lies within you" - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Mark Dever
Mark - you know him - he's in his fifties and is in ALL the dance classes... Mark's attitude continues to inspire me (I'm 39 so coming into my - ahem - senior years!) Not only is does he have a continuing commitment to his health and fitness that many in their twenties would be jealous of (sometimes he does 3 or 4 classes in a session!) but he really injects a feeling of enjoyment and lightness into his training. Add to this that I know for a fact his work has included working at Long Bay Maximum Security prison with some of the hardest men around - this only makes it sweeter that he is the lightest one on his feet in Ballet, or the funkiest in Hip Hop, or the most hip-swiveling in Zumba.... When I grow up I wanna be like Mark !

Nath Smith
Well when I joined around 12 months ago I really only just cruised along not really trying. I was around 104-105kg and not in very good shape, had a shocking diet of fast foods and what not...
Over the last 3 months, I have changed my diet and really ripped into the gym and now am weighing in at around 91kg and generally feel alot better about myself and have found a long lost confidence.
Seeing the friendly trainers and signage of "transform" yourself has really been my motivation along the way.
Simone Labianca
I started at V Club in July 2008. I had just moved to Australia from Italy and needed somewhere to find myself. At the time I weighed over 110kg. V Club was my sanctuary. I had made heaps of friends, found by body, mind and soul. I actually looked forward to going to V Club at the end of the day.
Today, 2 years after first joining, I weigh 78kg and I am physically extremely fit, highly confident and at the end of the day find myself with many friends and, keep making new ones every time I step into V Club.
Isabelle Ward
Isabelle has been through a quite difficult time for a long time since her very serious accident as a teenager. She had been struggling for years with many, many ways to try and find a suitable way or programme to deal with the many pains ,limited movements of limbs, plus of course the psychological scars associated. In the last couple of years I have noticed a marked in her confidence, ability to tackle menial tasks and even walking, where she used to drag her feet ,and also her arms.I live in wollongong,so I only get to see her occasionally,so it shows more of the improvements. She also raves about her fitness club which she mentioned is in sydney cbd.Quite frankly,I am actually amazed she goes all the way into the city for a gym ! I would personally chose somewhere closer since she has to bus and train it ! I think due to her dedicated commitment and marked improvement,I therefore nominate her. Thank you.

A note from Isabelle
I would like to thank VClub and also I take this opportunity to thank myself as I have come a long since I joined the club in April 2008 (I turned 50 the month later!).
When I first walked in the door of VClub, I knew this was the place for me. After Justina showed me around I realised the possibilities for me. At the time my body was stiff with pain as a result of past injuries and was crying out for help. I started at V Club not knowing what I would find but found my answer in an inspirational personal trainer, Rob Devereux who helped me on the journey to heal my body and build my strength.
As I mentioned my body was stiff with pain. This was a result of an accident I experienced when I was 16, I was hit by a car when riding my bicycle. The accident left me with severe injuries and I was in a coma for 40 days and in hospital for 11 months during which time I had to learn to walk again. I was left with permanent injuries and pain which I have carried ever since.
Since joining V Club I’ve had the opportunity to give my body new strength and new life through the positive encouragement and support of all the wonderful staff I have the pleasure to work with. To this day, I have lost my flab, conditioned my core strength so I feel much stronger and experience much less pain than I did and I am proud of what I have achieved.
In particular the sessions I had with my second personal trainer, Pascal, the yoga teachers, Reformer instructors, Pilates and belly dance classes have all contributed to my new sense of wellbeing and self-confidence and belief in myself. I would also like to mention the great benefits I have achieved from the wonderful Spinology Sessions with Anthony. He has made a truly amazing difference to my mobility and flexibility.
If it were not for V Club and its wonderful and inspirational staff I would not be where I am today. And my journey continues.
I feel great!
Thank you Selena and Luciano.
Alison Howarth
Alison is new to the gym period, not V Club. She has gone from doing nothing at all to firstly, joining (= committment) then working very hard. She has already lost around 10kgs by seeing a trainer twice/week, setting measurable goals, and doing a lot of cardio every other day.
Her never-say-die attitude plus her discipline is an inspiration, especially because we all lead such busy lives and it's always easy to 'externalise' and find excuses not to work out.
Well done Alison, keep it going girlfriend!!!
