At first sight, the Pilates Reformer Bed can be an intimidating looking piece of equipment. Gears, straps, springs and pulleys!

Despite the somewhat ‘medieval look’, the Reformer Bed is actually an amazingly elegant machine.

The Reformer Bed provides an effective exercise resistance that allows the participant to exercise with a right body alignment, and core stability.

After this course you will feel much more comfortable when you attend your first Pilates Reformer Bed class.

WHAT IS PILATES REFORMER?

The Pilates Reformer is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises focused on the development of a healthy body, a healthy mind and eventually a more fulfilling and balanced lifestyle.

Pilates Reformer is an extension of the Pilates mat class. Pilates Reformer Bed uses a series of springs to provide resistance to the workout. The key of Pilates Reformer is ‘internal awareness’ of how to perform the exercise rather than physical effort.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PILATES REFORMER?

  • Increases core strength and stability
  • Increases body awareness.
  • Improves performance in sports (golf, skiing, skating etc.)
  • Longer, leaner muscles (less bulk, more freedom of movement).
  • Injury prevention and balances strength & flexibility.

WHY PILATES REFORMER?

The Pilates Reformer helps the participant to establish torso stability and postural alignment while working peripheral limbs in a range of motion. The adjustable springs allow for progressive resistance, which helps to lengthen and strengthen the muscles rather than building bulk. Pilates Reformer is an effective, no-impact stretching and toning workout that is friendly to the joints.

HOW LONG BEFORE I SEE RESULTS?

The key to master Pilates is to practice frequently. You won’t master Pilates Reformer over night.
As a guide for an average active person is:

10 classes in 1 month: You should just start to understand and feel confident.
20 classes in 2 months: You should be feeling good.
30 classes in 3 months: You are certainly on your way, feeling great and maintaining the benefits.

This will vary depending on each individual and other factors such as the number of classes you take each week, whether they are private or group classes, whether they participate in other physical activities, and whether they have any existing injuries.
